Dear fellow Neighbors,

In response to the current global crisis surrounding COVID-19, we wanted to let you know how Neighbor is working to support our users and keep members of our community safe. In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and US Government guidelines, companies providing storage solutions are allowed to operate despite the current pandemic. In addition, the disruption in the economy has rattled many people’s lives and has consequently caused an increased need for parking and storage services. For these reasons, our team is still operating. We are willing and ready to help users across the globe safely find storage and make money with any extra space they may have.

We know that this has been an incredibly trying time for many and while we are all spending time apart, we will get through this together. The health and safety of our community is of the utmost importance and these are the steps we as a company are taking to uphold this:

1. Waiving late fees. Because of the current economic climate, we understand that financial hardships have unexpectedly hit many people. Effective September 1, 2020 through November 1, 2020, we are willing to waive late fees for renters who are unable to pay for their storage space on time due to issues resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak. We will continue to evaluate and update this policy on a need basis as we learn more about the effects of coronavirus. Renters in this situation should reach out to us at

2. Encouraging Hosts to deactivate their listings if they are uncomfortable renting.

If a host is uncomfortable with renting out their vacant space during this time, we encourage them to deactivate their listing and we’re happy to reach out after the pandemic is over to get the space reactivated. Please send an email to if you would like a reminder to relist your space.

3. Providing assistance to Hosts with unexpected cancellations. Because of the current economic state, we know many people are in need of an income and an unexpected cancellation due to COVID-19 is not ideal. With Neighbor’s payout protection, Hosts will continue to be paid on time, regardless of their renter’s ability to pay. In addition, as soon as a reservation is cancelled, the reserved space will automatically be re-listed and reservable by anyone.

4. Providing safety tips. For those needing a passive income, we put together some tips on how to rent out your space safely. Alternatively, if you want to rent a storage space, we also put together some guidelines on how to safely do so.

On behalf of everyone here at Neighbor, we thank you for your support, loyalty, and understanding during this difficult time. We will continue to listen, learn, and press forward as we move through the uncertainty. While it’s apparent that the coronavirus has deeply impacted our community, economy, and daily way of life, we know that this will soon pass. But in the meantime and now more than ever, we need to love and care for our neighbors.
