Congratulations on joining the Neighborhood! If you’re new to the platform, there are some details you’ll want in your repertoire to make your hosting experience run as smoothly as possible. 

  

This guide will walk you through all the basics from downloading our app to managing your listings effectively. Let’s get started!

  

## Downloading the app

Downloading the app makes managing your spaces and responding to renters a breeze, all while you’re on the go. 

**IOS and Android devices:**

2.  Select “download”
    

Once the app has been downloaded, you’ll open it and either sign up or sign in to your account

  

  

## How to create a listing

Creating a listing is your first step to becoming a successful host on Neighbor.com, and it couldn’t be easier. Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating a listing:

**Create a new listing:**

1.  Log in to your Neighbor account
    
2.  Navigate to the “Listings” tab
    
3.  Select the “Add Listing” button in the middle of the page

5.  Once you’ve added all your listing information, you’ll click “submit” and your listing will be ready for reservations!
    

**Duplicate a listing:**

Have a large space to rent out? Turn it into smaller listings to maximize your earnings

1.  Navigate to your “Listings” tab
    
2.  Find the listing you’d like to duplicate
    
3.  Select “Duplicate” under the description
    

  

## First Month Discount

The first-month discount is a special feature hosts can enable on listings, as a way to offer 50% off their listing price for the first month of a reservation (as long as the reservation is for two months or longer). This deal attracts potential renters and increases the likelihood of your listing being reserved.

**Turn on first-month discount:**

1.  Navigate to your “listings” tab
    
2.  Find the listing you’d like to offer a discount for
    
3.  Select the “edit” button that listing
    
4.  Scroll down to find “First-month discount” and select “edit”
    
5.  Turn on “offer discount”
    
6.  Hit “Save”
    

  

## How to read and respond to reservation requests

We get it, life can get busy. But when it comes to hosting on Neighbor, speedy replies will be the difference between a renter reserving your space, or going somewhere else. Aim to respond to ALL messages within an hour.

**How to read the message:**

1.  Log in to your Neighbor account
    
2.  Navigate to your “messages” tab
    
3.  Select the unread conversation on the left-hand side
    

**How to respond to reservation requests:**

1.  After reading the message, begin typing your response in the text box
    
2.  When you’re done click the “send” button
    

  

**Create an automatic welcome message:**

Turning on an automatic welcome message ensures you’re always responding to potential renters in a timely manner. Here’s how to set it up:

1.  Navigate to the listing you’d like an auto-response for
    
2.  Select “edit”
    
3.  Scroll down to “Welcome message” and click “Edit”
    
4.  Type out your welcome message
    
5.  When you’re done, hit “save”
    

  

## How to connect your bank account

You don’t want to rent your space for free, right? Connect your bank account so we can send you your monthly payouts.

**Connecting your bank account:**

1.  Navigate to your profile
    
2.  From the drop-down menu, select “Payout account”
    
3.  Select “Connect Bank Account”

## Payout timeline

On the first day of every rental period, Neighbor automatically charges your renter’s credit card. This automated system ensures your renters are charged to rent your space for the entirety of the month. 

Then, at the end of the rental period, Neighbor sends your host payout to Stripe, who will send your payout to your bank account. Keep in mind it may take 2-3 days for your payment to show up in your account.
